Omaha Steaks 1917 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Oakville, Napa Valley

$149.99 per bottle

No purchase necessary to enter

This unique wine is the result of the special partnership between the founding families of Omaha Steaks and Laithwaites Wine.

Nearly a year ago, they set out to find the finest wine to pair with Omaha’s coveted Private Reserve® cuts. And, on a cold (-30°F) day in January, Todd Simon, Tony Laithwaite and members of their top teams gathered together in Omaha to do just that. They tasted a range of fine and rare wines from around the world. The tasting was conducted “blind” (neither the bottles nor labels were shown) and the wines were judged not on how delicious they tasted on their own, but on how well they complemented the steak.

This small-batch Cab from Napa’s famed Oakville district was the clear winner. It’s named 1917 for the year that Omaha Steaks was founded, and only 1,917 bottles exist.

It was handcrafted by the acclaimed William Knuttel, who is legendary for his premium Cabernets. He sourced hand-harvested fruit from two elite Oakville vineyards and aged the wine in fine French oak barrels for a long 25 months.

It brims with sumptuous flavors of blackberry, ripe blueberry, black cherry, and hints of cocoa, with a wave of velvety tannins. While delicious now, it will also age beautifully and is perfect for your favorite cut of Private Reserve® steak.

Remember, only 1,917 bottles were made, and each is individually numbered. Secure yours for special holiday meals (and beyond)…while it lasts.

Why Is the 1917 Private Reserve Cabernet So Good with Steak?

“Well, it’s a bit of culinary alchemy that’s been known about for centuries.

“Cabernet Sauvignon’s robust tannins can leave a drying sensation in the mouth...except when its sipped alongside a well-marbled steak.

“Private Reserve® steaks’ naturally high levels of fat and protein cause the wine’s tannins to become softer and smoother, somehow sweeter – and these transformed tannins then coax a lot of extra flavors out of the meat. Each improves the other!”

– Tony Laithwaite, founder of Laithwaites Wine
